Ingredients

  • 1kg Bramley apples, peeled, cored and chopped
  • 550ml cider
  • 200g caster sugar
  • 100g butter
  • 200g plain flour
  • 1tsp cinnamon

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 200C/180C fan.
  2. Add apples to a large saucepan, add 100g sugar and cover with the cider. Bring to a simmer, over medium heat, for around 10 minutes until the apples are softened.
  3. Meanwhile, make the crumble topping. Add the flour, remaining sugar, butter and the cinnamon to a bowl. Using fingertips rub the ingredients together until all ingredients resemble breadcrumbs.
  4. Drain the apples and place them in the bottom of a shallow ovenproof casserole dish. Cover the apples with the crumble mix.
  5. Place in oven and cook for 20 minutes, until golden and bubbling.
