WELCOME PLACE

The Moor Markets Welcome Place is open to anyone to drop by, have a chat, grab a free hot drink and access help from a number of partner organisations. It is a one-stop place for help, advice, a warm and friendly welcome and a chat.

This is a non-judgemental space where people will be treated equally with dignity and respect, where you can ask questions and get help around food, fuel, finances, mental health and more.

As one of the first official Welcome Places established in the city, it has welcomed nearly 4,000 visitors since it opened and has regular face to face support on offer from 10 key organisation’s and is linked with 100s of community organisations and services across Sheffield. They are part of the wider community of Welcome Places located in communities with the Council working in partnership with Voluntary, Community and Faith sector organisations.

As the pressures of cost of living continues to affect everyone it is an ideal space for people who would like to talk to someone in person, with a separate space available to speak privately if needed. They also have digital devices that clients can use free of charge as they understand that not everyone has access to the internet, the ability to make a telephone call or knowledge of using online forms.

Specialist cost of living help is available Wednesdays and Thursdays.

On Wednesdays they are also joined by partners from LEAP (Local Energy Advice partnership) who are available to provide energy efficiency advice. The Citizen's Advice Sheffield Energy Affordability Help team can also assist with energy debt advice and support for those in need.

On Thursdays we have advice from Opportunity Sheffield for education and jobs, and the Multiply team to help you access numeracy, functional, digital and English skills for people aged 19+.

For a friendly chat and a cuppa you can drop in Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays when we are open 10am-3.30pm. You can find the Welcome Place near to the Eyre Street entrance next door to the Love & Best Wishes card stall.
