Pop-Up Exhibition
We have the NVM visiting the Moor Market between the 2nd and 4th May for an exhibition and interactive event.
They are taking the NVM on tour as part of a Level Up Project, a National Lottery Heritage Funded initiative which aims to make the museum more accessible and inclusive for communities in Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley, and Chesterfield.
For this, a mobile pop-up exhibition has been created that showcases a range of games and objects from their collection. This will include interactive exhibits, fascinating behind-the-scenes items, and fun activities to take part in.
The exhibition will have something for everyone, and this does include those who do not, or never have gamed before. You can still get involved and learn what the museum is all about.
There will be local volunteers and museum staff on hand throughout the 3 days to guide through the exhibit and answer any questions you may have.
The National Videogame Arcade was the world’s first, yes first cultural centre dedicated to videogames when it opened its doors in 2015. It was renamed in 2017 when it moved to Sheffield, where it remains to this day.
The museum is not just about “playing”, it is also about collaborating and learning and as a charity they support under-represented communities to become involved in the gaming industry.
